Nutrasource Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Services, a global full-service contract research organization (CRO), is thrilled to announce the hiring of Kara Lewis, PhD, as Director of Scientific Affairs for GRAS Associates. Lewis has many years of experience in the research field and will bring a wide range of scientific and regulatory expertise to the GRAS Associates team.

As Director of Scientific Affairs, Lewis will oversee the regulatory activities of GRAS Associates, preparing, reviewing, and following-up on regulatory submissions. Lewis will have a large role in the daily scientific and technical operations of GRAS Associates and will also participate in cross-company projects and client services and communications.
Dr. Lewis has been consulting for GRAS Associates for 5 years prior to her joining as a full-time employee of the company. Her ability to assess scientific data and negotiate with regulatory bodies will ultimately result in more favourable GRAS conclusions for our clients.
Prior to joining GRAS Associates, Lewis earned her Ph.D. in biology with a concentration in neuroscience from Clark University before conducting postdoctoral research on taste and olfaction at Yale University. This was followed by a 13 year career as a senior staff scientist at the Life Sciences Research Office, before taking on her most recent role as a scientific consultant assisting companies in the development of GRAS dossiers and GRAS evaluations.
