SGS Nutrasource is pleased to announce that Microbio has received an Independent / Self-Affirmed GRAS for their Symbiota® ingredient. Symbiota® is a soybean fermentate using a combination of 19 bacterial strains and the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae or mixtures of these strains.
“The achievement of Independent / Self-affirmed GRAS for Symbiota® is a key market access strategy to U.S.,” said Dr. Tzen-Wen Chen, Chairman and General Manger. “Unlike probiotics, this GRAS conclusion is the first on postbiotics in Taiwan, and the GRAS conclusion will include the soybean fermentates generated by multi-strain probiotics and yeasts or mixtures of these strains, which covers all current Microbio’s proprietary microbiome based portfolio. The GRAS Associates team is very thoughtful and approachable for the entire process. We are so grateful to work with them on the project.”
Symbiota® can be used in nutritional beverages, protein and nutritional powders, smoothies, and grain drinks, regular and diet sports and energy drinks, regular and diet soft drinks, fruit drinks including unreconstituted powders, dairy drinks, and milk substitutes, gelatin-type candies, ready to eat cereals, and cooked cereals at usage levels up to 20% for the liquid form and 10% for the powdered form.
Amy Mozingo, Vice President of GRAS Associates (a SGS Nutrasource company), notes, “The Microbio team’s expertise and understanding of their ingredient was invaluable in producing a robust dossier and GRAS conclusion for the intended use of Symbiota®. The GRAS Associates team was pleased to work with Microbio in drafting the dossier and managing the Expert Panel review process.”
Congratulations to Microbio on this achievement.
